Lovely Lavender

Lovely Lavender

Watch a video all about lavender:

Maybe you have heard of essential oils, maybe you haven't.  I didn't even really know they existed until last year.  Then I had to wait about three months before I was able to start using them.
It's a whole new world!!!  I really love my oils.  Probably my favorite par t of using the oils is the smell.  I love the smell of so many of the oils, but lavender is one of my all time favorites.
Lavender is a basic, everyday oil that can be used in so many different ways. Lavender is an in-expensive oil that is harvested in winter.  It's properties are antibacterial, antifungal, anti-depressant, antiseptic, analgesic, anticoagulant, anticonvulsive, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, antimutagenic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic, antitumor, cardiotonic, regenerative, and sedative.  (Higley, Connie and Alan: Reference Guide for Essential Oils, pgs. 87-88, 2012)  The most common topical uses for lavender are for "*burns, dry skin, wrinkles, inflammation, stress,  itching, pain, acne, blisters, hives, impetigo, neuritis, scarring, sensitive skin, stretch marks, bruises and wounds" (Higley, Connie and Alan: Reference Guide for Essential Oils, pgs. 87-88, 2012)
1-2 drops of the oil is applied directly to the affected area.  This oil does not have to be diluted when used.

Aroma Therapy Uses

The aromatic uses of lavender can be for "*depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADD/ADHD, nausea,  physical stress, alertness, allergies, and tension. You can place 1-3 drops on a paper towel, cotton ball, tissue, handkerchief, towel, or pillow case.  Hold the item close to your face and inhale".   (Higley, Connie and Alan: Reference Guide for Essential Oils, pg. 87-88, 2012)   You may also place the drops in your hands, rub them together, cup them over your nose and breathe in.
The best way to benefit from the aromatic properties of the oils is by using a diffuser (as pictured above).  This is a special machine that breaks up the oils into a micro-fine mist that is then dispersed into the air covering large areas.
